Alvor - Approximately 8 km west of Portimão and directly on an estuary is the former fishing village of Alvor. The village offers original charm with Moorish influences and newer buildings which are interspersed through the maze of cobbled streets in the village. The nearby beach is wide and further east it turns into rocky coves and sandstone cliffs. In the village there are beautiful townhouses and apartments, while villas are a little further out. Alvor is known for its night life as well as many restaurants and bars (with live music).
